Julie DeRoche is
Leblanc’s director of performance education. Prior to joining Leblanc, she
served for many years as coordinator of the woodwind department and clarinet
faculty at DePaul University, Chicago. She was acting second clarinet with
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra during the 2000–2001 season and continues
to perform and tour frequently with the CSO. In addition to her involvement
with numerous chamber and orchestral groups, she now serves as immediate
past president of the International Clarinet Association. Her instrument
of choice is the Opus II model Leblanc France clarinet.
The Opus II model clarinet is the ultimate orchestral clarinet. Its mature,
rich tone possesses great evenness, directness and power. The Opus II can
be played at the fullest dynamic levels without tonal distortion and at
whisper dynamic levels without loss of body and color in the tone. The Opus
II, with its superior scale, simplifies playing in tuneespecially
in the upper clarion register. It includes an auxiliary Ab-Eb key, an adjustable
thumb rest and the Woodwind Company LC1 Larry Combs artist mouthpiece. |
